|After meeting at Rome airport or nearby hotel, we will transfer by van to Cesenatico.
During our ride, we will have a couple of stops at some very interesting town on our way.
Upon arrival to Cesenatico, we will check-in at our hotel, have a debrief for the Nove Colli package and dinner
HOTEL: Hotel Lungomare
Today we will start our ride with a pleasant ride towards the hills, after leaving Cesenatico we will climb up to Castello di Sorrivoli, a very scenic place.
The countryside of this region is a big contrast with the coastal part, here is all about small roads, and very quiet hill towns…expect a few stops for coffee!
We plan to get back to our hotel early, have lunch and in the afternoon we will travel by van to the city of Ravenna.
Ravenna: This amazing town has a good number of attractions to visit, especially the Basilica of San Vitale and the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia with its incredible mosaics. This is a UNESCO town, so what better to make the most of our visit with a local guide!
Today we will dedicate our day to discover a few things about Marco Pantani, an Italian cycling legend, born in nearby Cesena and died in Rimini in very tragic circumstances.
First, we will ride on his preferred training roads, including the steep climb up to Monte Carpegna, then later on we will visit his museum in Cesenatico.
In the morning we will have a short transfer before we start our ride up to San Leo, followed by the Serra San Marco. From there a nice descent will take us to the small town of Carpegna, where one of Marco’s favorite climbs start: Monte Carpegna. This climb is full of Pantani’s memorabilia on the road and at the summit, a good excuse to have shortstops of the way up.
We will finish our ride in Novafeltria and transfer back to our hotel.
In the afternoon we will visit the Spazio Pantani in Cesenatico, where we can see his bikes, cycling gear, trophies…definitely a place worth a visit.
Today is all about getting prepared for our participation in tomorrow’s GF Nove Colli.
A short ride to Rimini following the coast should be enough to keep our legs fresh, Rimini’s well worth a coffee and pasticceria ride this morning.
In the afternoon we will visit the GF Nove Colli Expo, and collect our chips and the race pack that the organizers provide.
Rest of the day free and early dinner.
