Main Information
CLIMB LIKE NEVER BEFORE WITH SFIDA CYCLING
We have done it! we are proud to introduce you to the ultimate Italian climbing trip. SFIDA Dolomites + Stelvio’s title is short compared to what we are about to offer you on this trip.
Starting in Corvara, in the heart of the Dolomites, and ending in Bormio, we are covering a good number of epic climbs along the route we have carefully designed for you. You can feel like you are riding parts of the Giro d’Italia during this trip.
We have redesigned this trip, definitely one of our client’s favourites. The trip can be divided into three parts, Corvara, Bolzano/Merano in South Tyrol and Bormio. One of the most convenient advantages of this new itinerary is that we start with three nights in Corvara and end with another three nights in Bormio. This way we avoid too many hotel transfers and can focus on great riding.
To the usual amazing climbs in the Dolomites: Fedaia, Valparola, Giau, Sella, Pordoi and the classics in the Alps: Stelvio (from Pratto and Bormio), Mortirolo and Gavia. We have added three new climbs to the SFIDA repertoire…and you won’t be disappointed, all above 2,000m high, the Penser Joch/Passo di Pennes, Jaufen Pass/ Passo di Monte Giovo and the most known Timmelsjoch/Passo del Rombo will help us discover the less-visited northern corner of the South Tyrol…as always SFIDA Cycling takes you to the less explored climbs.
If you ever want to ride on the wild side, this is your opportunity to join SFIDA Cycling and tick off your personal bucket list of incredible climbs.
As we are in Italy, expect the food and coffee to be great too. We have chosen excellent accommodation so you can relax after our challenging days on the road.
SFIDA Cycling only provides first-class support, so you just need to train and join us, we take care of all the details to make sure any trip with us is an unforgettable experience.

CANCELLATION POLICY:
Adapting to the changes in international travel after the COVID-19 pandemic, we are adjusting our cancellation policy accordingly as follows:
120 days before the trip starts – the return of your deposit minus any expenses that we may not be able to reimburse.
90 days before the trip starts – partial refund of the amount of the trip less the 400 Euros cancellation fee, plus any amount that we can’t recover from Hotels, and other costs that we may have already incurred in the trip preparation.
Less than 60 days before the trip starts – no amount will be refunded. We will, however, try to credit as much as possible towards a future trip. This depends on the amount that we can get back from the hotels and other costs that we have already incurred in the trip preparation.
We highly recommend to contract travel insurance as soon you pay the deposit and buy your international flights.
Make sure your travel insurance covers:
- Refund of the amounts paid in case you need to cancel for any reason.
- Covers the cost of possible damages to your rental bike. Check our T&C for this.
For these reasons, we won’t be holding any spots until the full deposit has been paid.
Hotels are now more strict with how many rooms they are willing to have on hold for groups, so until deposit payments are made we won’t be able to confirm your spot.
Itinerary
After meeting the SFIDA Cycling team at Venice Airport, we will transfer by van to our hotel in Corvara.
Once we get there we will check-in, have lunch and have a trip orientation chat.
In the afternoon we will prepare our bikes and go for a ride up Passo Gardena, this is a great way to check our legs and bikes.
20km/630m.
Climb: Passo Gardena.
Hotel: Posta Zirm Hotel.
Our excellent location in Corvara, allows us to do some amazing rides.
In a relatively short distance, today we will conquer some very important climbs in the Dolomites.
Leaving Corvara we will ride down to La Villa, then turn left and climb up the Passo Valparola, descend the Falzarego and head towards Passo Giau.
The Giau is one of the classic Giro d'Italia climbs, we will climb the hardest side and then descend towards Cortina.
Our last climb will be the relatively easier Passo Falzarego.
92km/2,800m.
Climbs: Passo Valparola, Colle Santa Lucia, Passo Giau, Passo Falzarego/Valparola.
Hotel: Posta Zirm Hotel.
The Sella Ronda is one of the nicest cycling routes in Italy.
Today, we will do most of it, but changing the Passo Pordoi for the Fedaia (Marmolada), of course, makes this ride tougher but also more rewarding.
The Passo Fedaia also features often in the Giro, and sometimes it is the end of the stage too.
90km/2,800m.
Climbs: Passos Campolongo, Fedaia, Sella, Gardena.
Hotel: Posta Zirm Hotel.
Today we will travel from the Dolomites to the South Tyrol region.
After we climb the Passo Campolongo, we will head towards Arabba and climb the Passo Pordoi, this is one of the nicest climbs in the Dolomites.
We will descend to Canazei, and continue our ride in the Val di Fassa until we find the turn right up to Passo Costalunga.
The top of the Costalunga is the entry to the South Tyrol. This region became Italian after the First World War, still, German is used widely and many signs have both languages.
We will stay in Bolzano, the capital of South Tyrol.
91km/1,800m.
Climbs: Passos Campolongo, Pordoi, Costalunga.
Hotel: Magdalener Hof.
We will be doing some amazing climbing in the South Tyrol for the next couple of days.
Today after leaving Bolzano we will head up to Auna di Sopra, the first part of the ride is close to the vineyards that produce some great white wines.
Next will be the Passo di Pennes/Penserjoch, a high climb with great views over the top.
From there it is a long descent to Vipiteno/Sterzing, where we will stay for the night.
83km/2,850m.
Climbs: Auna di Sopra, Passo di Pennes/Penserjoch.
Hotel: in Vipiteno.
After leaving Vipiteno/Sterzing, we will start climbing the Passo del Giovo/Jaufenpass. This is another big climb.
We will descend to San Leonardo in Passiria, and climb up to the Timmelsjoch/Passo del Rombo.
This is one of the longest and highest climbs in this part of the Alps.
Today is one of the most challenging rides on this trip, a rewarding one once we arrive in Merano.
118km/3,575m.
Climbs: Passo del Giovo/Jaufenpass, Passo del Rombo/Timmelsjoch.
Hotel: Flora Hotel Merano.
Today we will climb one of the most iconic climbs in Europe.
The Passo dello Stelvio is a bucket list climb, especially from the Prato side with its 48 hairpins.
Climbed for the first time in the Giro d'Italia in 1953, this mountain has become a cycling mecca for all the aficionados to this amazing sport.
After conquering the climb, we will enjoy an amazing descent to Bormio, where we will stay for the rest of the trip.
47km/1,885m.
Climb: Passo dello Stelvio (from Prato).
Hotel: Baita dei Pini.
We will ride down the valley to Mazzo di Valtellina, here is where the Passo del Mortirolo starts. There are a few different ways up this climb, we will use the classic Giro d'Italia side.
Next will be a descent to Monno, and then we will continue towards Ponte di Legno.
Ponte di Legno is the start of the second climb of the day, Passo Gavia, another giant climb with a lot of cycling history.
We will end our ride with a great downhill back to Bormio.
109km/3,200m.
Climbs: Passo del Mortirolo, Passo Gavia.
Hotel: Baita dei Pini.
To end this trip, we will climb the Passo dello Stelvio from Bormio, this is another beautiful road, the same that we would have descended a couple of days ago.
This is the perfect finale for yet another epic SFIDA Cycling trip.
44km/1,575m.
Climb: Passo dello Stelvio (from Bormio).
Hotel: Baita dei Pini.
After breakfast, we will transfer to Milano Malpensa Airport (MXP).
