Main Information
DISCOVER TYROL’S BEST CLIMBS.
We have done it…again!
We are taking our clients to the Austrian Alps, where the Tyrol region has some of the best climbing this Alpine country has to offer.
Starting in Solden, we will soon begin tackling some high climbs, such as the Timmelsjoch and Rettenbachferner. Then we will move to Innsbruck and the scenic Zillertaler region.
The second part of the trip includes the incredibly stunning landscapes of the Grossglockner region. We will conclude our trip by moving south until we cross the border into Italy for the final part of our ride. This is a convenient way to end this epic trip.
SFIDA Cycling only provides first-class support, so you just need to train and join us; we take care of all the details to make sure any trip with us is an unforgettable experience.

CANCELLATION POLICY:
Adapting to the changes in international travel after the COVID-19 pandemic, we are adjusting our cancellation policy accordingly as follows:
120 days before the trip starts – the return of your deposit minus any expenses that we may not be able to get reimbursed.
90 days before the trip starts – partial refund of the amount of the trip less the 400 Euros cancellation fee, plus any amount that we can’t recover from hotels and other costs that we may have already incurred in the trip preparation.
Less than 60 days before the trip starts, no amount will be refunded. We will, however, try to credit as much as possible towards a future trip. This depends on the amount that we can get back from the hotels and other costs that we have already incurred in the trip preparation.
We highly recommend contracting travel insurance as soon as you pay the deposit and buy your international flights.
Make sure your travel insurance covers:
- Refund of the amounts paid in case you need to cancel for any reason.
- Covers the cost of possible damages to your rental bike. Check our T&C for this.
For these reasons, we won’t be holding any spots until the full deposit has been paid.
Hotels are now more strict with how many rooms they are willing to have on hold for groups, so until deposit payments are made, we won’t be able to confirm your spot.
Itinerary
After pick up at Innsbruck Airport, we will drive to Solden, our first destination.
Once we arrive at our hotel, we will have lunch and prepare our bikes.
In the early afternoon, we will head on a short and spectacular ride up to the Timmelsjoch. This climb marks the border between Austria and Italy.
47km/1,430m.
Climb: Timmelsjoch.
Hotel: Hotel Erhard Solden.
Solden is the base for altitude training camps for some professional teams.
The main reason is that there are some high climbs in the area nearby.
Today we will go very high, close to 2,800m. The climb up to Rettenbachferner is a tough one, but the views from the top are amazing.
Afterwards, we will descend back to Solden and head up to Vent, along a beautiful road.
61km/2,100m.
Climbs: Rettenbachferner and Vent.
Hotel: Hotel Erhard Solden.
We are leaving Solden today and riding to Innsbruck.
On the way, we will climb one of the most popular climbs in Tyrol, the Kuhtai Sattel.
From the top of Kuhtai Sattel, it is a 30km descent to Innsbruck, our final destination today.
Innsbruck is the sophisticated, bustling small-town capital of Tyrol. We will have time to visit the old centre in the afternoon.
83km/1,450m.
Climb: Kuhtai Sattel.
Hotel: Hotel Goldener Adler.
We will start our ride along the Inn river, for the most part we will be on a cycle path until we arrive in the Zillertal.
Zillertal is a small region in Tyrol that has some very interesting roads, especially the Zillertaler Hohenstrasse, which is basically what is commonly known as Tony's ambush!
There will be options to stop the climbing and head down to Zell am Ziller, where we are staying for the night.
96km/2,225m.
Climb: Zillertaler Hohenstrasse.
Hotel: Malis Garten Green Spa.
Ahead of some big climbing days in the next couple of days, today we chose an "easier" route to Kaprun.
We will climb the long and steady Gerlos Pass, after the summit, we will descend into Wald Im Pingau, the rest of the ride is mostly flat.
Kaprun is a great place to stay for the afternoon, enjoy some apple strudel and get ready for some climbing action.
86km/1,350m.
Climb: Gerlos Pass.
Hotel: Votter's Hotel.
The massive Grossglockner climb is on the same league as the Stelvio, Agnello, Bonette...We are talking about some of the biggest climbs in Europe.
We will start this memorable ride in Kaprun and make our way to the top of the Edelweiss Spitze, which is an amazing lookout.
The ride has another couple of highlights, the Hochtor Pass and the ride to Frans Josef Hohe and its incredible views.
We will descend to Heiligenblut to stay in an amazing location for the night.
74km/2,700m.
Climbs: Grossglockner, Hochtor, Frans Josef Hohe.
Hotel: Alpin Panorama Hotel Larchenhof.
We will leave Heiligenblut and start our ride towards Mauthen.
The steep climb up to Grobsee will be optional; this is a tough climb with great views from the top.
The rest of the ride includes a couple of smaller climbs, and we are leaving the high Austrian Alps.
96km/2,590m.
Climbs: Grobsee, Iselsberg pass, Gailberg Satel.
Hotel: Bierhotel Loncium.
Our last ride will take us to Udine in Italy; this is a good way to finalise this trip.
We have only one climb today, Nassfeld Pass or Passo di Pramollo. At the top is the border between Austria and Italy.
From there, we will descend to Pontebba and ride the Alpe-Adria cycle path to Udine.
125km/1,550m.
Climb: Nassfeld Pass.
Hotel: Hotel Friuli.
After breakfast, we will depart by van to Venice Airport.
We will arrive at Venice Airport at around 11 am. Please plan your onward travel plans accordingly.
