We’ve done it again!
This trip combines exceptional riding with unforgettable sightseeing. Austria is a truly spectacular place to explore by bike.
Starting in Sölden, we’ll soon take on high alpine climbs, with the Timmelsjoch offering our first taste of the Austrian Alps.
Next, we’ll ride to Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol, with time in the afternoon to explore this beautiful city.
Over the following days, we’ll ride through the scenic Zillertal region before reaching Kaprun via the beautiful Gerlos Pass.
The next stage takes us through the breathtaking landscapes of the Grossglockner region, where we’ll enjoy an unforgettable mountain ride.
Afterwards, we’ll travel to Bad Gastein via the unique train from Mallnitz. From there, we’ll ride part of the Alpe Adria cycle route to Golling before transferring to the stunning village of Hallstatt, where our riding concludes.
On our final day in Hallstatt, we’ll visit the impressive Salt Mines before transferring to Salzburg, where the trip ends.

Payment terms
A deposit of 1,000 Euros is due at the time of booking. The remaining balance must be paid no later than 120 days before the trip begins.

Cancellation policy
In response to post-COVID changes in international travel, and in line with most hotels’ terms and conditions, our cancellation policy is as follows:
- 120 or more days before the trip starts: Your deposit will be refunded, minus any non-reimbursable expenses.
- Less than 90 days before the trip starts: No refund or credit available. Make sure your travel insurance covers all the SFIDA Cycling trip costs.
Travel insurance
We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance as soon as you pay your deposit and book your international flights. Please make sure your policy covers the following:
- International flights.
- Reimbursement of amounts paid if you need to cancel for any reason.
- Damage to your rental bike (see our terms and conditions).
Reserving your spot
To reserve your place, the full deposit must be paid. Because hotels are now stricter about holding rooms for groups, we cannot hold or confirm a spot until the deposit has been received.
Itinerary
After pickup at Munich Airport, we’ll transfer to Sölden, our first destination.
Once we arrive at the hotel, we’ll have lunch and prepare our bikes.
In the early afternoon, we’ll set out on a short but spectacular ride up the Timmelsjoch, the climb that marks the border between Austria and Italy.

Today we leave Sölden and ride to Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol.
Along the way, we’ll climb the Kühtai Sattel, one of Tyrol’s most popular and rewarding climbs.
From the summit, a 30km descent takes us into Innsbruck, where we’ll have time in the afternoon to explore the city’s historic centre.

We’ll begin the day riding along the Inn River, following cycle paths for much of the route until we reach the Zillertal.
Zillertal is a small Tyrolean region with some excellent roads, including the Zillertaler Höhenstrasse, better known among us as Tony’s ambush.
Riders will have options to shorten the climbing and descend directly to Zell am Ziller, where we’ll stay for the night.

With bigger climbs ahead tomorrow, today’s route to Kaprun is a little easier.
We’ll climb the long, steady Gerlos Pass before descending into Wald im Pinzgau. From there, the rest of the ride is mostly flat.
Kaprun is a great place to spend the afternoon, enjoy some apple strudel, and get ready for the climbing to come.

This is a standout SFIDA day, centred on the mighty Grossglockner—one of Europe’s great climbs and comparable with the Stelvio, Agnello, and Bonette.
From Kaprun, we’ll ride to the summit of the Edelweiss Spitze, an exceptional lookout with sweeping alpine views.
The route also takes in the Hochtor Pass and Franz-Josefs-Höhe, both offering spectacular perspectives across the high mountain landscape.
We’ll finish by descending to Heiligenblut, where we’ll spend the night in a beautiful alpine setting.

After yesterday’s big effort, today begins with a long, mostly downhill ride to Lainach.
From Lainach, we’ll climb to Mallnitz, then take the unique train ride to Bockstein.
From Bockstein, we’ll descend into Bad Gastein, a beautiful ski village where we’ll spend the night.

Today’s ride follows the Alpe Adria cycle route, taking us through Sankt Johann im Pongau and Bischofshofen.
We’ll finish the ride in Golling, then transfer by van to the beautiful lakeside village of Hallstatt.

Hallstatt is regarded as one of Europe’s most beautiful villages and is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, making it a wonderful place to explore.
In the morning, we’ll visit the Saltzwelten salt mines, reached by a spectacular funicular ride.
Afterwards, we’ll transfer to the beautiful city of Salzburg, where our trip ends.

After breakfast, we’ll transfer to Munich Airport (MUC) for onward travel.
The journey takes approximately two and a half hours, and we plan to arrive by noon.
