Main Information
CLIMB LIKE NEVER BEFORE WITH SFIDA CYCLING
We have done it! We are proud to introduce you to the ultimate Italian climbing trip. SFIDA Dolomites + Stelvio’s title is short compared to what we are about to offer you on this trip.
Starting in Corvara, in the heart of the Dolomites, and ending in Bormio, we are covering a good number of epic climbs along the route we have carefully designed for you. You can feel like you are riding parts of the Giro d’Italia during this trip.
We have redesigned this trip, definitely one of our clients’ favourites. The trip can be divided into three parts: Corvara, South Tyrol and Bormio. One of the most convenient advantages of this new itinerary is that we start with three nights in Corvara and end with another three nights in Bormio. This way, we avoid too many hotel transfers and can focus on great riding.
To the usual amazing climbs in the Dolomites: Fedaia, Valparola, Giau, Sella, Pordoi and the classics in the Alps: Stelvio (from Pratto and Bormio), Mortirolo and Gavia.
If you ever want to ride on the wild side, this is your opportunity to join SFIDA Cycling and tick off your personal bucket list of incredible climbs.
As we are in Italy, expect the food and coffee to be excellent as well. We have chosen excellent accommodation so you can relax after our challenging days on the road.
SFIDA Cycling provides only first-class support, so you just need to train and join us. We take care of all the details to ensure that any trip with us is an unforgettable experience.

CANCELLATION POLICY:
Adapting to the changes in international travel after the COVID-19 pandemic, we are adjusting our cancellation policy accordingly as follows:
120 days before the trip starts – the return of your deposit minus any expenses that we may not be able to reimburse.
90 days before the trip starts – partial refund of the amount of the trip less the 400 Euros cancellation fee, plus any amount that we can’t recover from Hotels, and other costs that we may have already incurred in the trip preparation.
Less than 60 days before the trip starts, no amount will be refunded. We will, however, try to credit as much as possible towards a future trip. This depends on the amount that we can get back from the hotels and other costs that we have already incurred in the trip preparation.
We highly recommend contracting travel insurance as soon as you pay the deposit and buy your international flights.
Make sure your travel insurance covers:
- Refund of the amounts paid in case you need to cancel for any reason.
- Covers the cost of possible damages to your rental bike. Check our T&C for this.
For these reasons, we won’t be holding any spots until the full deposit has been paid.
Hotels are now more strict with how many rooms they are willing to have on hold for groups, so until deposit payments are made, we won’t be able to confirm your spot.
Itinerary
After pickup in Venice, we will drive to our hotel in Corvara.
Upon arrival, we will proceed with lunch, trip presentation and bike set-up.
For the afternoon, we have planned a short ride up to Passo Gardena, time to check our bikes and legs.
20km/630m.
Climb: Passo Gardena.
Hotel: Hotel Posta Zirm
Our second ride starts with a few kilometers descent to La Villa, then we will turn right and climb up the Passo Valparola.
Next is the descent of the Falzarego and the short climb up Colle Santa Lucia.
This is very close to the start of the Passo Giau, one of the classic Giro d'Italia climbs.
After lunch, we will descend back down and then continue to Arabba and climb the Campolongo as our last climb for the day.
92km/2,825m.
Climbs: Passos Valparola, Giau and Campolongo.
Hotel: Hotel Posta Zirm
The Sella Ronda is one of the nicest rides in Europe.
Today, we are offering a couple of options:
The Classic Sella Ronda, in this order: Campolongo, Pordoi, Sella and Gardena.
The SFIDA Sella Ronda, this ride substitutes the Pordoi for the amazing Passo Fedaia.
SFIDA version: 85km/2,670m
Classic Sella Ronda: 51 km/1.650 m.
Hotel: Hotel Posta Zirm
Today we are riding from Corvara to Bolzano, the capital of the South Tyrol region.
Our first climb would be the Gardena, then the short Sella and down to Canazei.
From Canazei is a pleasant ride down the Val di Fassa, until we start climbing the gentle Passo di Costalunga. At the top, we will have lunch, which is also the entry to the South Tyrol region.
From the top, it is a great descent to Bolzano via Passo Nigra.
94km/1,900m.
Climbs: Passos Gardena, Sella and Costalunga.
Hotel: Hotel Laurin.
Soon after we leave Bolzano, we will follow one of the amazing cycle paths in northern Italy.
Today, most of our riding will be along this bike path. After four days of climbing in the Dolomites, this is a great transition to the northern Italian Alps.
Our first stop will be in Merano, a beautiful spa town with great places for mid-morning coffee.
From Merano, we will continue riding along the well-kept bike path to Silandro, our destination and where we will spend the night.
70km/7200m.
Hotel: Hotel Goldener-Loewe.
Passo Stelvio is one of the most famous climbs in cycling.
The 48 switchbacks from the Prato side will take us to the top of this impressive climb.
First climbed during the Giro d'Italia in 1953, today this road is a pilgrimage place for any cyclist who aims to conquer the most mythic of the Alpine climbs.
Today we will leave Silandro and ride along the bike path until Prato allo Stelvio, where we will start climbing.
After we summit and enjoy the moment, we will descend to Bormio, where we are staying for three nights.
63km/2,150m.
Climb: Passo Stelvio from Prato.
Hotel: Hotel Baita dei Pini.
The Passo del Mortirolo and Passo Gavia loop is one of the classic rides in the Italian Alps.
Today we will do this challenging ride, but also offer an alternative for the riders who prefer an easier option.
The shorter alternative will climb the Mortirolo from Grosio and return back to Bormio.
For the ones doing the full loop, we will start with a beautiful ride down the valley to Mazzo. Then we will climb the Mortirolo on its classic Giro side.
After summiting, we will descend to Monno and ride towards Ponte di Legno, which is the start of the Passo Gavia.
From the top of the Gavia is a great descent back to Bormio.
Mortirolo and Gavia loop: 112km/3,200m.
Mortirolo via Grosio and back to Bormio: 75km/1,800m.
Hotel: Hotel Baita dei Pini.
For our last ride, we have planned another ride up the Passo Stelvio, this time from Bormio.
Some people prefer this side of the climb for its amazing views; you can judge once you have conquered it from both sides.
This is a great ride to end this epic trip.
44km/1,550m.
Climb: Passo Stelvio from Bormio.
Hotel: Hotel Baita dei Pini.
After breakfast, we will depart by van to Milano Malpensa Airport.
We will arrive at MXP at around noon. Please plan your onward travel plans accordingly.
