Main Information
This is one of our most popular trips—and for good reason.
SFIDA Dolomites + Stelvio is our ultimate Italian climbing trip, combining legendary Giro d’Italia roads with carefully planned logistics and exceptional support.
Beginning in Corvara, in the heart of the Dolomites, and finishing in Bormio, this itinerary takes in a superb collection of iconic climbs across northern Italy. Along the way, you will ride roads made famous by the Giro d’Italia and experience some of the most memorable mountain cycling in Europe.
We have redesigned this client favourite to make the experience smoother and more enjoyable. The trip is divided into three stages—Corvara, South Tyrol and Bormio—with three nights in Corvara at the beginning and three nights in Bormio at the end. This reduces hotel transfers and lets you focus on what matters most: great riding.

Most of today’s ride follows this well-maintained route, offering a welcome change of pace after four days of climbing in the Dolomites and a smooth transition into the northern Italian Alps.

From Prato, the ascent unfolds over 48 famous switchbacks, leading us to the summit of this extraordinary mountain pass.
Since its first appearance in the Giro d’Italia in 1953, Stelvio has become a pilgrimage climb for riders eager to conquer one of the Alps’ most legendary roads.
We leave Silandro on the bike path and ride to Prato allo Stelvio, where the climb begins in earnest.
After taking in the summit, we descend to Bormio, our base for the next three nights.

The Passo del Mortirolo and Passo Gavia loop is one of the great classic rides of the Italian Alps.
Today, we offer two options: a demanding full loop for riders ready for a big mountain day, and a shorter alternative for those who prefer a lighter ride.
The shorter option climbs the Mortirolo from Grosio before returning to Bormio.
Riders taking on the full loop begin with a scenic ride down the valley to Mazzo, then tackle the Mortirolo on its classic Giro d’Italia side.
After the summit, we descend to Monno and continue to Ponte di Legno, where the climb to Passo Gavia begins.
From the top of the Gavia, a long descent brings us back to Bormio.
Ride details
- Full loop: Mortirolo and Gavia loop — 112 km / 3,200 m
- Shorter option: Mortirolo via Grosio and back to Bormio — 75 km / 1,800 m
- Hotel: Hotel Baita dei Pini
Our final ride takes us up Passo Stelvio once more, this time from the Bormio side.
Many riders consider this approach the more scenic of the two, and by the end of the day you will have experienced both sides of one of cycling’s great Alpine climbs.
It is a fitting finale to an unforgettable trip.
Ride details
- Distance: 44 km
- Elevation gain: 1,550 m
- Climb: Passo Stelvio from Bormio
